WELCOME TO COLLINS STREET SPECIALIST CENTRECollins Street Specialist Centre is located in the heart of Melbourne, on Levels 8, 12 & Tower of the Manchester Unity Building.
In bringing together under one roof the full range of dental practitioners – general dentists, registered specialists and dental hygienists – Collins Street Specialist Centre does away with the need for patients to spend time, energy and funds in going from one practice to another to receive all of the various treatments.
At Collins Street Specialist Centre, our team of Dental Board – registered specialists covers all of the six main fields of dental specialisation, namely: Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Endodontics, Orthodontics, Periodontics, Prosthodontics and Paediatric Dentistry.
We also offer patients the advantage of peer review. Not all dental cases are straightforward or simple. It is appropriate for some dental patients to consult with and be treated by a number of specialists in the various fields of dentistry. This process is much more efficient and effective when all parties are in one place, enabling peer collaboration to be coordinated and well planned – as well as caring and personalised.
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
Oral and maxillofacial surgery is a supremely specialised field of dentistry in which a wide range of oral conditions, trauma and diseases are diagnosed and treated. These include implant dentistry, bone grafting, orthognathic (jaw) surgery and complex wisdom teeth management.
Endodontic treatment includes the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases of the dental pulp, nerves and tissues that surround the root of a tooth.
Orthodontics is a specialised field of dentistry that is concerned with the bite – in other words, the alignment and position of the teeth in relation to facial structure. An improper bite, or a malocclusion, not only affects appearance but can also indicate jaw dysfunction or problems with underlying bone structure, including overbite, underbite, cross-bite, and crowded or impacted teeth.
Paediatric dentistry focuses on the growth and development of children’s teeth, on addressing any emerging problems and on preventing decay rather than treating it after it happens
The focus of dental hygiene is to maintain healthy gums and teeth. It generally begins with an assessment and evaluation of a patient’s gum tissue (known as periodontal tissue). It can be assisted in the surgery by the removal of plaque, calculus (tartar) and general staining, as well as the application of decay-preventing agents as required. And it is best maintained at home by means of a dental care routine specifically designed by your general dentist or dental hygienist.
Prosthodontics is the field of dentistry that focuses on the restoration of teeth that requires crowns, bridges, veneers, implants, dentures or any combination of these. The term prosthodontics means, literally, “tooth replacement”.
