Porcelain Veneers & Crowns – Smile Solutions Melbourne

The term prosthodontics means, literally, “tooth replacement”.

Prosthodontic procedures are sometimes carried out by general dentists but are usually the realm of highly trained specialists.

Specialist prosthodontists are experienced in a range of procedures, from single tooth management through to full arch rehabilitations and Teeth in 3 days™. They often work in conjunction with specialists in the related fields of periodontics and oral and maxillofacial surgery, a particularly effective collaboration when all of these clinicians work seamlessly under one roof as they do at Collins Street Specialist Centre.

Registered Specialist Qualifications

To qualify as a registered specialist prosthodontist in Australia, practitioners must first have the same degree as a general dentist, with honours. They then study for a further three years for a Masters degree or equivalent specific training, making them eligible to apply for registration with the Dental Board of Australia as a specialist prosthodontist. (Never assume that a prosthodontist is a registered specialist; always check on the website of the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
